Itinerary

DAY 1 | COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO
Morning arrival in Colonia del Sacramento, established by the Portuguese in the 17th century; the city has been designated as a Patrimony of Mankind by UNESCO. Begin your discovery of this charming city with a walking tour along the cobbled streets of the Old Town. Visit the charming buildings, forts and the Spanish and Portuguese museums. Continue to the Hotel Plaza Mayor for overnight.

DAY 2 | COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO | MONTEVIDEO
After breakfast, transfer to Montevideo, a vibrant, eclectic place with a rich cultural life. Its architecture is unlike any other, as it reflects its history ranging from colonial to Art Deco. Visit the Old Town of Montevideo including the Matriz Cathedral, Cabildo, Solis Theater, and Independence Square with a monument of the national hero José Artigas. The tour continues along Libertador Avenue where you’ll see the Legislative Palace, the upscale Prado neighborhood and its Presidential House. Your day continues with a visit to the lively Port Market for lunch. Overnight at the Hotel MY Suites. (B, L)

DAY 3 | MONTEVIDEO | PUNTA DEL ESTE RESORT | VALIZAS
Morning tour to some of the best vineyards in Montevideo with wine tasting included. After lunch at one of the vineyards, continue to the resort area of Punta del Este. Transfer to the small town of Valizas located in the Province of Rocha. This area has been declared a Natural Reserve since 1996. Enjoy dinner and stay at a small charming posada in town. (Accommodation may vary according to the season). (B, L, D)

DAY 4 | ESTANCIA GUARDIA DEL MONTE
After breakfast, start your unforgettable tour to Cabo Polonio. Lunch at a seaside restaurant. Visit the lighthouse and Sea Lions Reserve (the biggest one in the world!) Cross the dunes in a 4x4 vehicle to the beach and the entrance of the village. Afternoon 4x4 excursion towards the main entrance of Cabo Polonio where a private transfer will drive guests back to the Posada. Dinner and overnight at the Posada (please note this accommodation may vary according to the season). (B, D)

DAY 5 | VALIZAS | THE OMBU FOREST & PALM GROVES | ESTANCIA GUARDIA DEL MONTE or ESTANCIA EL CHARABON
After breakfast, visit the “Forest of Ombu”, a tree that curiously rarely grows in groups of more than 2 or 3 but in this area has extended into a big line of forest, possibly the only one in the world. After lunch, you have the opportunity to visit the extensive “Palm Groves of Rocha”. Dinner and overnight at Estancia Guardia del Monte. (B, L, D)

DAY 6 | ESTANCIA GUARDIA DEL MONTE or ESTANCIA EL CHARABON
Enjoy a “gaucho experience” by participating in the rural activities of the day or just bird watching. This estancia has a large area of marshlands and wetlands teeming with over 400 species of bird life. You may see the graceful black-necked swan or the rare white goose among other rare birds. After a typical “asado lunch” enjoy some horseback riding to explore the estancia surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Guardia del Monte.

DAY 7 | ESTANCIA GUARDIA DEL MONTE or ESTANCIA EL CHARABON | PUNTA DEL ESTE | MONTEVIDEO
After breakfast, transfer towards the exclusive area of “Punta del Este” where the charming Jose Ignacio town with its rocky beaches and light house will be visited, drive across different small villages that follow one another along the coastline and visit of the lively La Barra where the famous undulated bridge will be crossed just before arriving to the Brava Beach of Punta del Este. Visit the famous Casapueblo, a strange and attractive construction designed by the famous Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. After lunch, transfer back to Montevideo. Overnight at Hotel My Suites. DAY 8 | MONTEVIDEO
Morning transfer to the port or airport in Montevideo for your departure home or onward to your next destination in South America. (B)
