Arrive in Guyana and transfer to Georgetown.  Overnight at our hotel in Georgetown.

Travel eastward from Georgetown to the Abary River to look for Blood-colored Woodpecker and Rufous Crab-Hawk, the first of the many range-restricted species we will be hoping to find. The woodpecker is only known from a narrow coastal strip which runs eastward for just a few hundred miles from Guyana. Finding this species will be one of our main priorities.  We will also look for the White-bellied Piculet which can be found in this area.  An section of mangrove, less than 50 kilometers from Georgetown, is a good place to find Rufous Crab-Hawk, a species which has been badly affected by the reduction in this type of habitat.  This is also a reliable site for the Woodpecker and Piculet, so we stand an excellent chance of seeing all three species. On our return journey to Georgetown, we will visit some mudflats where we are likely to find a range of waders, as well as Scarlet Ibis, Black Skimmer, Brown Pelican and Magnificent Frigatebird.  Depending on the time of year, we may also visit a heronry where Black-crowned and Yellow-crowned Night-herons, Little Blue Herons and Cattle and Snowy Egrets breed alongside Snail Kites.

Optional tour: In the late afternoon we may take a boat on the Demerara River to see the Scarlet Ibis.

Overnight at our hotel in Georgetown. (B)

Today, enjoy a trip to Kaieteur Falls. Transfer to the airport for our flight (included in land package). This is the longest single drop waterfall in the world and a truly impressive sight. However, the area is also good for birds and we hope to see both White-chinned and White-tipped Swifts.  The flocks of swifts often attract Orange-breasted Falcons and, with luck, we may see this species hunting swifts, with the falls providing a spectacular backdrop.  Nearby, there is also a small Guianan Cock-of-the-rock lek which we will visit before re-boarding our plane for the flight to Georgetown (included in land package) where we will arrive in the late afternoon and spend the night.  Lunch is included. Overnight at our hotel in Georgetown. (B,L)

Note: Passenger/s traveling on internal flights in Guyana are allowed a free baggage allowance of 20lbs/9.1KG. Exceeding this weight, passengers will incur a cost of GY$150.00 (price subject to change) equivalent to US$ 77 cents per pound. Please note that additional baggage allowance is subject to availability and cannot be confirmed until day/time of check-in by the airline.  We can book excess weight on your behalf but it is subject to being within the payload of the aircraft and at the discretion of the airline. We understand you may want more than 20lbs/9.1KG of baggage and wish to have guaranteed excess baggage/weight and so an alternative is to pre-book an extra seat on the flight which will afford you 175lbs/79.4KG for you to use individually or for your group.

Please be advised all customers must provide us with weight of passengers booked to travel on tour to Guyana for all internal flights. Failure to provide us with this information or the incorrect information can cause delays to flights and inconvenience to other passengers and in some cases either passengers and/or luggage being taken off the flight.
