Itinerary

DAY 1 | USA | MANAGUA | NICARAGUA
Arrival to Managua, Nicaragua “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes”. Meeting and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore independently. Overnight in Managua.

DAY 2 | MANAGUA
You will visit old Managua with the Cathedral ruins, the Culture Palace and Ruben Dario National Theater. You will also stop by a local market that offers a wide selection of local crafts. Continue to Leon, founded by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524, nestled on the shores of Lake Xolotlan; this was the capital city of Nicaragua for more than 200 Overnight in Managua. (B, L)

DAY 3 | MASAYA | GRANADA | ISLETAS
Drive from Managua to Masaya Volcano National Park – here you’ll visit one of the few volcanoes in the world where you can peer directly over the edge of the steamy crater. This is one of the most visited national parks in all of Central America. Afterwards, continue to the beautiful city of Granada, setting for some of the famed Pirates of the Caribbean that pillaged the Caribbean during the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries. Next, on to Isletas; enjoy a relaxing journey through the many calm canals that separate the 365 islets of Lake Nicaragua. (B, L)

DAY 4 | MANAGUA | SAN SALVADOR | EL SALVADOR
Depart Managua by flight to San Salvador, El Salvador. Visit the colonial town of Suchitoto; walk along the beautiful cobblestone streets with its charming houses. Here, the Indigo trade thrived back in the Mayan and colonial times. Indigo is a natural colorant, extracted from the Xiquilite plant. Time to experience firsthand an Indigo workshop; learn the process of Indigo as well as its techniques. Continue to “El Boquerón”, the crater of San Salvador Volcano (Quezaltepeque Volcano); reach the edge of the crater and admire its beauty. Return to San Salvador for overnight. (B, L)

DAY 5 | SAN SALVADOR
Morning departure to Volcanoes National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve including three volcanoes as well as a volcanic lake. After enjoying the beauty of the park, continue to the Flower Route, formed by four charming towns within the coffee plantations. Stop for coffee then see the crafts of the region. Overnight in San Salvador. (B, L)

DAY 6 | SAN SALVADOR | GUATEMALA CITY | ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA*
Morning drive from San Salvador to Guatemala City. Continue to the World Heritage Site of Antigua and tour this city established by the Spaniards in 1543 then completely destroyed by an earthquake. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight in Antigua. (B, L)

DAY 7 | ANTIGUA
Full day at leisure to discover the many beautiful sights this city has to offer. Overnight stay in Antigua. (B, L)

DAY 8 | GUATEMALA CITY | USA
Transfer to the airport in Guatemala City for your return flight back to the USA. (B)
