“Río Celeste” is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and impacting natural phenomenons you can find in Costa Rica and today you have the opportunity to learn why. After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred to the Tenorio Volcano National Park with the company of a local guide. The drive to the park entrance takes less than 5 minutes.

You will hike through the Cloud Forest of Tenorio National Park, this is a dormant volcano but you can still see some of the volcano’s activity as you walk the trails. When you arrive to “Los Teñideros”, two pristine rivers conjoin and form the unique “Río Celeste”. From the depths of the Tenorio Volcano, mysterious minerals transform the union of the Buena Vista and Roble rivers into a sky blue stream, giving birth to one of the most extraordinary phenomena of nature, "Celeste River".

Within its river hot springs, bends of heavenly tranquility and a waterfall of singular beauty are present and all are surrounded by varied flora and fauna.

Return to the hotel after the hike, rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel facilities or take an optional tour (not included).

Day at your leisure to enjoy the beach and explore the coast at your own pace. There are several shops in town that offer surfboard, bicycles, ATVs and small golf car rentals so you can explore the nearby beaches and towns. The white sand beach is also waiting for you, enjoy a long walk and explore the beautiful Langosta beach south of Tamarindo; or you can walk in the other direction and get to “Playa Grande” after crossing the Tamarindo estuary with the help of a taxi-boat (these are on the river shores waiting for clients).

Once a quiet fishing town, Tamarindo is now the area’s most developed and accessible tourist town. Located on the central west coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, Tamarindo offers visitors of every budget a chance to experience the region’s unspoiled beaches and incredible biodiversity. Despite the town’s recent and ongoing development, it retains the laid back vibe that is so characteristic of the region.

Today in the afternoon, you will enjoy the best adventure available in the area, a sunset sailing tour on a 66 foot, modern catamaran. The boat expedition departs right from the beach therefore you can walk to the meeting point; everything is close here.

Your guide will help you board the 28 foot Mini Marlin that will take you to the Marlin del Rey catamaran anchored 100 yards off shore. Once on board, an introductory speech is given, the anchor is pulled and we begin our motor sail to one of the many pristine beaches in the area. En route to our secluded beach we look for turtles, dolphins, flying fish or whales. We will also cast a line off the back in the hopes of hooking a yellow fin tuna, mahi mahi or maybe even a sailfish. Eventually, the boat will pull into a secluded bay and drop anchor.

Snorkel equipment is provided so you can admire the colorful rocky reefs and look for exotic sea life. Some of the more common animals seen include tangs, puffers, porcupine fish, eels, starfish, rays and seahorses. While you enjoy the bay, the crew prepares a light lunch. Following lunch the anchor is pulled, the sails are raised, and you will start navigating along the bay. You will arrive to the final anchor location as the sun nears the horizon and the sky melts in thousands of colors (the tour is also available in the morning).

Return to the hotel after this exciting activity, rest of the day free.
