Itinerary

DAY 1 | SAN JOSE
Welcome to Costa Rica. Upon arrival to Juan Santamaria International Airport, our private driver/guide will be waiting, with a welcome package, to take us to San Jose.
Overnight at our hotel in San Jose.

DAY 2 | SAN JOSE
After breakfast, we will have a brief orientation about the day’s activities. We depart with our driver/guide to visit the Casa Luz Organization. This will be a day to learn and share with the young mothers of Casa Luz. A list of articles that that are most needed will be provided, as well as a strict code of conduct.  Optional activities for the afternoon include a visit to a nearby coffee farm and mill where we will learn about coffee and enjoy a typical lunch, a visit to La Paz Waterfall Gardens or a visit to the small and colorful town of Sarchi, home of the hand painted oxcarts. Return late afternoon to the hotel. Overnight at our hotel in San Jose. (B, L)

DAY 3 | COPEY DE DOTA
After breakfast, early departure to Ecolodge Cedrela, located near Los Santos Forest Reserve in Dota County. Upon arrival, check-in and orientation to learn about the activities programmed for this afternoon and tomorrow. During the afternoon, we will have the opportunity to learn about eco-farming and organic farming, as well as start with the preparation for our volunteer project. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight at Ecolodge Cedrela. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 | COPEY DE DOTA
Early breakfast and start with our community service program that will be either cementing trails in this small rural community or painting in the local school or church. Lunch at the community center. Drive from the mountains of the Los Santos Reserve to Santa Juana Lodge and community.  Just the trip by 4 x 4 vehicles on the journey there is an adventure! Arrive at the lodge. The village women who prepare breakfast and traditional campesino lunches enjoy the learning experience of exchanging information and receiving recipes. Nature interpreters, horse wranglers and other members of the village help host the tours that make everyone feel right at home. We will have a truly exceptional Costa Rica experience. The tranquil atmosphere, warmth and charm of the rural lifestyle, coupled with the lush mountain landscapes and stunning vistas of the Pacific coastline, are quite impressive. Dinner and overnight at San Juana Lodge. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 | SANTA JUANA
Start the adventure after breakfast! Guides of the local community will take us exploring by horseback. A 4x4 option is also available. Arrive to the rustic sugar mill, operated by oxen, and learn about the traditional process of producing sugar and molasses. Afterwards. hike in the rain forest and end at the beautiful Rodeo river and waterfall where we can  swim and relax. Return for lunch at the lodge, prepared by the community of Santa Juana. We have the afternoon to interact with the community and learn about the traditions of the area. We will have the opportunity for music lessons, dance lessons, cooking together and much more. Sunset Cocktails and dinner. Night walk optional tour available.  Overnight at Santa Juana Lodge. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 | SANTA JUANA | MANUEL ANTONIO
After breakfast, we may fish with the children of the community, as well as work on the reforestation project at a nearby farm. We will depart in the early afternoon which is very close to the Manuel Antonio National Park. Arrival and a brief orientation followed by a welcome cocktail and delicious dinner (B,L,D)

DAY 7 | MANUEL ANTONIO
After breakfast, guided walk in Manuel Antonio National Park and free time to enjoy the beaches. We are free to explore the multiple options near the park. Return in the afternoon, with time to relax and enjoy the facilities. Optional night tour to the Greentique Wildlife Refuge is available. Overnight at our hotel in Manuel Antonio. (B)

DAY 8 | MANUEL ANTONIO
Morning visit to the nearby, small town of Quepos. Visit the Wildife Rescue Center. Enjoy optional activities such as canopy tours, surfing lessons, deep sea fishing etc. Overnight at our hotel in Manuel Antonio. (B)

DAY 9 | DEPARTURE
Breakfast and departure to the airport in San Jose for our flight home. (B)
