Itinerary

LOST WORLD EXPEDITION

DAY 1 | USA | LIMA
Arrival in Lima, meeting and assistance at the airport and transfer to your Hotel. Overnight at Lima.

DAY 2 | LIMA
Buffet breakfast. You will be driven to the Plaza Mayor, where you will view the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and the City Hall. Then, you will visit the XVII century church and cloister of San Francisco, a world cultural heritage. The tour continues to the modern residential suburb of San Isidro and to downtown Miraflores, with its Park of Love. After the city tour, visit Aliaga’s House, a colonial mansion that has stood already five centuries. Its historic value comes especially from three aspects: it is one of the first houses built in Lima, it belonged to one of the co-founders of the city and conqueror of Peru and until today it is still inhabited by the descendants of this conqueror. Finally, drive to the Larco Herrera Museum, world's largest private collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian art that comprises approximately 45,000 pieces collected by the Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Herrera. The museum is famed for its erotic pottery collection. Discover the bohemian district of Barranco and its traditional Bridge of Sighs. Later on, enjoy a delicious dinner at an exclusive restaurant in Lima. Overnight at Lima.

DAY 3 | LIMA | SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast transfer back to the airport for your short flight to Cuzco. Arrival in Cuzco, reception and transfer to the hotel. You start off early this morning for Ollantaytambo. From the perspective of the archeological site, you will look down upon the town of the same name and see its incredibly narrow streets and canal that has not changed since the Incas constructed them. After completing this leg of the journey, you travel to the town of Pisac, on the way you will visit Awanakancha, a store where you will find Peruvian Handicrafts and variety of fauna, after this you will visit Pisac market which is quite captivating. Lunch is included today. Dinner at hotel. Overnight the Sacred Valley.

DAY 4 | MACHU PICCHU | CUZCO
Buffet breakfast. Awaiting you today is by far and away one of the high points in world tourism: Machu Picchu. Your adventure starts on a train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, where you disembark and then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archeological site, where you will definitely have an experience you will never forget. The tour includes every nook and cranny of this New 7th wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site; afterwards, there is some free time for you to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate. We will then descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant and, later on, board the train for the return trip to Cuzco; you will stop at the Ollantaytambo Station and be picked up and driven to your hotel. Overnight at Cuzco (B, D)

DAY 5 | CUZCO
This morning after breakfast get to know the city of Cuzco, an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over top this temple’s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo, that is still there today. Your next destination is the Main Square, and then the adventure continues at the Sacsayhuaman Fortress built of enormous stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas. The tour continues with visits to three archeological sites three archeological sites: Qenko, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay, important religious and administrative centers for the Incas. Finally you will visit the art workshop named Inkas expression that presents artists working on silver pieces and painting in wood. Overnight at Cuzco.

DAY 6 | CUZCO | PUNO
After breakfast begin your trip to Puno and enjoy the wonderful scenery on the way. First you will visit Andahuaylillas, a town where a precious church from the 17th century boasts an amazing organ decorated with angels and cherubs. After this you will visit Racchi ruins, known as "The Temple of God Wiracocha". The last stop before arriving to Puno will be La Raya. After this you will arrive to Puno. Arrival in Puno, transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Puno.

DAY 7 | PUNO | COPACABANA | SUN ISLAND | MOON ISLAND | COCOTONI | HUATAJATA
Depart Puno to Copacabana; visit the church of Pomata before departing on a hydrofoil* to sun Island. Here, visit the Inca “Grand stairs” and the “sacred Fountain”; taste the water believed to grant eternal youth and happiness. Lunch at the Uma Kollu restaurant followed by a visit to the small handicraft market. Continue on a hydrofoil to Moon Island; visit the sun Virgins Temple. Return to the hydrofoil to a cruise to the bucolic and untouched Bay of Cocotoni, with its authentic pastoral scenery. On to Huatajata by motor coach; visit to the Andean roots eco village, Altiplano Museum, handicrafts village, the mud igloos and the mortuary towers of the Urus chipayas. Tonight, visit the mystical world of the Kallawayas; see a ritual presentation by a local “shaman.” Welcome drink and candlelight Dinner at the hotel. (L, D) *hydrofoil on a shared basis.

DAY 8 | HUATAJATA
Morning hydrofoil cruise on Lake Titicaca; arrive at the island of Pariti, the newest archaeological discovery on the lake. Visit to the museum to observe the high artistic quality of the fine Tiwanaku ceramics. Continue to Kalauta Island, the largest ancient necropolis on Lake Titicaca, reachable only by navigating through reed canals. Finally, visit to the Urus-Iruitos Floating Island and sustainable Tourism Project on Quewaya Island. After an Aptapi native-style picnic lunch, return by cruise to Huatajata. Tonight, dinner at the hotel followed by a visit to the “Alajpacha” (native observatory) for a look at the southern skies. (B, Native Picnic, D)

DAY 9 | HUATAJATA | LA PAZ (TIWANAKU RUINS)
Drive to the magnificent Bolivian ruins of Tiwanaku, thought to be the largest city in the ancient world with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Visit the ruins of the Akapana Pyramid, the Kalasaya, the underground Temples, Aqueducts and the Gate of the sun. A box lunch is included today. Afterwards, continue to the city of La Paz for overnight. (B, Box Lunch)

DAY 10 | LA PAZ
Morning tour of La Paz and its surroundings. You’ll be transported to the mysterious past of this city and its hidden treasures from pre-hispanic times. Visit the colonial and modern areas, the Indian Market and the Witch Doctor’s Market, all framed with the backdrop of the majestic Illimani Mountains. Later, on to the Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the Moon. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
